Privacy Policy

Classified is built on the principle that your research is your business. This policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and what we don't do.

The short version

All your cases, arguments, sources, and downloaded videos stay on your device. We do not have servers that store your content. We cannot see what you're researching.

What we collect

Data that stays on your device only

• Cases, arguments, sources, and notes you create
• Videos, images, and screenshots you save
• URLs you share to the app
• Credibility ratings and reasoning notes

This data never leaves your iPhone. It is stored in the app's private storage container on your device and is backed up only if you have iCloud Backup enabled for your device (handled by Apple, not us).

Data sent to third parties when you use specific features

• Video resolution: When you save a video from a social media URL, the URL is sent to our video resolution service to extract a direct download link. The link is then used to download the video to your device. We do not store the URL or the resolved link after the download completes.
• Subscription management: If you purchase Premium, Apple processes the transaction. Apple provides us with an anonymous subscription status. We use Superwall to manage paywall display and subscription state. See Superwall's privacy policy.

Data we do not collect

• Your name, email address, phone number
• Your Apple ID or any account information
• Device identifiers for advertising
• Analytics about what cases you build or content you view
• Location data
• Contacts, photos, or any other personal data unless you explicitly share it to the app

How your content is used

Content stored in the app is used only to display it back to you inside the app. We do not:

• Send your cases, notes, or videos to any server
• Share anything with advertisers, researchers, or third parties
• Read, index, or analyze your content
• Use your content to train AI models

Video downloading

When you save a video from a social media platform, the download happens through our video resolution service. The service acts as a middleman that extracts a direct media URL from public content. We do not:

• Log which URLs you resolve
• Store copies of downloaded videos on our servers
• Share what you download with the platforms you downloaded from

You are responsible for respecting the copyright and terms of service of the platforms you download from. Classified is a personal research tool — not a publishing platform.

Premium subscriptions

If you subscribe to Premium, the payment is handled by Apple through the App Store. We do not see your payment method or billing details. Apple provides us only with:

• An anonymous subscription status (active / inactive / expired)
• The subscription plan you chose

Subscriptions can be managed and cancelled anytime in your iPhone's Settings → Apple ID → Subscriptions.

Children's privacy

Classified is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children under 13. If you believe a child has used the app, please contact us.

Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we'll update the "Last Updated" date at the top and, for material changes, notify users through the app.
